First Things First

I think I’ve stumbled on two simple rules of thumb to guarantee you’re in the center of God’s will (or awfully darn close to it):

  1. If and when a baby comes into your life, drop everything and love on it.
  2. As that baby grows older, make frequent opportunities to drop everything and love on it.

These two rules of thumb seem to square with the prominent place given to children (and parents’ love for their children) in the Gospels. So I suggest they are beyond question.

On top of those, as a working husband, I’m pretty sure that there are similarly guaranteed rules of thumb for dropping everything and doing whatever you can to make your wife’s life a little smoother and easier as she cares for the new ones and the growing ones.

In short, there’s nothing like the arrival of a baby to help get your priorities in order.

Who can argue with this?
